"39 MoUs Worth Rs. 18,486 Crore Signed at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit"

As part of its ongoing weekly initiative to establish Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various industries, the Gujarat government has successfully secured 39 MoUs with a total anticipated investment of Rs. 18,486 crore.

Continuing this endeavor, the state's Department of Urban Development, with a strong emphasis on the development of smart and sustainable cities, recently entered into a significant MoU with real estate developers as a preliminary measure leading up to the Vibrant Summit occurring this week.

In the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, eight prominent developers have signed MoUs with the Urban Development Department. The combined value of these MoUs stands at a substantial Rs. 7,459.68 crore, primarily directed towards commercial and residential projects in major cities such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat.

The work on these projects is set to commence promptly, with an estimated completion timeline spanning from 2026 to 2028. These developments are anticipated to generate employment opportunities for approximately 4,750 individuals, further contributing to the state's economic growth.

The Vibrant Summit in Gujarat has consistently attracted significant investments and industrial ventures. Therefore, the MoUs signed between municipal bodies and real estate developers are expected to play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of world-class amenities in the state's urban areas. Simultaneously, they will modernize commercial and residential infrastructure to meet contemporary requirements.

Notably, the Construction Rules of 2020 have introduced specific provisions for the construction of high-rise buildings, defined as those exceeding 100 meters in height, in the state's five major cities, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, and Gandhinagar. This regulatory framework is poised to bring fully corporate buildings and ambitious commercial projects that maximize land utilization to these metropolitan areas.

As a result of these agreements, potential investments of Rs. 6,601 crore are anticipated for four projects in Ahmedabad city, with further agreements formalized for investments amounting to Rs. 450 crore in Surat and Rs. 410 crore in Vadodara. These developments underscore Gujarat's commitment to fostering growth and modernization in its urban landscapes.
