117 Smart City Projects Completed in Jammu; 10 More Under Execution

As of Monday, Jammu has completed 117 smart city projects, with an additional 10, including the high-profile Tawi River Front development, currently in various stages of execution. This update was provided at a meeting chaired by Devansh Yadav, the newly appointed Jammu Municipal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL).

JSCL, established in August 2017, was tasked with transforming Jammu into a modern city. The Tawi River Front Project, inspired by the Sabarmati River Front in Gujarat, aims to enhance the aesthetic and environmental quality of the Tawi River. The project focuses on improving the river’s natural purification capabilities while advancing urban infrastructure sustainability.

Yadav emphasized that the success of the smart cities initiative relies not only on meeting deadlines but also on fulfilling the real needs and aspirations of the residents.

During his first visit, Yadav also inspected the Electric-Bus Depot in Bhagwati Nagar. He was briefed on the status of Jammu’s electric bus fleet, which comprises 95 buses serving 24 routes, including 18 intracity and six intercity routes. Yadav suggested exploring the feasibility of introducing a dedicated electric bus service for women to enhance public transportation options.
