ZF Wind Power Unveils India's Largest 13.2 MW Wind Gearbox Test Rig.

ZF Wind Power has officially inaugurated India’s largest test rig for wind turbine gearboxes and powertrains at its facility in Coimbatore. The new rig boasts a capacity of 13.2 MW, marking a significant addition to the country's wind energy testing infrastructure.

The newly commissioned facility is equipped for advanced testing, capable of performing dynamic load simulations and real-time torque reversal cycles. These features are crucial for the rigorous validation of next-generation gearbox technology. The test rig offers extreme validation capabilities, supporting testing up to 20 MNm (Mega Newton-meters), which will aid in the development of highly robust and efficient systems required for modern wind turbines.

According to a company statement, the test rig has been designed with an eye towards both current and future testing demands. ZF Wind Power anticipates that this advanced facility will play a key role in significantly enhancing product development cycles and reducing lead times for their wind power solutions.
