Tata Power's TP Solar Achieves 4 GW Module Production Milestone in TN.

TP Solar, the dedicated solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power, announced on Monday that its Tamil Nadu plant has successfully surpassed 4 Gigawatts (GW) in solar module production. As of May 31, 2025, the facility has cumulatively produced an impressive 4,049 MW of solar modules and 1,441 MW of solar cells.

This significant milestone underscores TP Solar's pivotal role in bolstering India's domestic solar manufacturing capabilities. The company is now setting its sights on further expanding production in the upcoming fiscal year, targeting 3.7 GW of solar cell output and 3.725 GW of module production in FY26.

TP Solar's Tamil Nadu plant, with a rated capacity of 4.3 GW, is expected to be fully operational at this capacity in FY26. This expansion is a key component of Tata Power's commitment to supporting India's ambitious clean energy transition goals, particularly the nation's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Strategically designed to meet domestic content requirement (DCR) norms, the state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced automated and AI-driven technologies. It specializes in manufacturing next-generation Mono PERC (passivated emitter and rear cell) and advanced TopCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) modules, crucial for high-efficiency solar installations.

In addition to its Tamil Nadu operations, Tata Power Renewable Energy also operates a 682 MW solar module and a 530 MW solar cell plant in Bengaluru. This facility consistently operates at full capacity, further contributing to the production of DCR-compliant cells and modules for the Indian market.
