Salem Corporation plans six hospitals.

The Municipal Corporation has planned to construct six hospitals at a total cost of Rs. 3. 17 crore. Also, it has proposed to renovate the existing 10 hospitals at a cost of Rs. 99.50 lakh.

Under the National Urban Health Mission, the corporation was sanctioned Rs. 252 lakh for construction of six hospitals. The Corporation also decided to provide Rs. 65.95 lakh from its general fund for the construction activities. The hospitals would come up at Pallapatti Duraisamy Layout in ward 25, Anna Hospital in ward 40, Puthumariyamman Temple Street in ward 10, Annathanapatti in ward 49, Sanjeevirayan Pettai in Dadagapatti in ward 55 and a hospital in ward 47. Officials said that each hospital would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 53.15 lakh, except the hospital in ward 10 which would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 52.20 lakh.

The existing hospital to be renovated include two at Shevapet, while one hospital were located each in Kitchipalayam, Subramaniya Nagar, Karungalpatti, Anna Hospital dispensary, NGGO Colony, Reddiyur, Old Suramangalam dispensary and at Annathanapatti. Officials said that resolutions were passed in the council meeting held on April 24 .
