Safran's Hyderabad MRO Facility Goes Operational, Sets 300 LEAP Engines-a-Year Goal.

French aerospace major Safran has commenced maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations at its Hyderabad facility with the induction of its first aircraft engine, marking a significant milestone in the development of India's aero-engine servicing ecosystem.

The facility, operated by Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI), was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has become operational this year, Safran India Chief Executive Officer and Country Head J S Gavankar said.

The Hyderabad MRO centre is expected to play a key role in supporting the growing fleet of LEAP engines operated by airlines in India and the region, while strengthening the country's aerospace maintenance capabilities.

The facility currently employs more than 300 personnel and is expected to expand its workforce to around 1,100 employees when it reaches full operational capacity.

The commissioning of the Hyderabad MRO facility is part of Safran's strategy to deepen its presence in India and support the country's rapidly growing aviation sector by providing world-class engine maintenance and overhaul services locally.
