Ola Electric Enters Energy Storage Sector with Launch of ‘Ola Shakti’.

Ola Electric has announced its entry into the battery energy storage solutions (BESS) sector with the launch of ‘Ola Shakti’, marking a major diversification beyond its core electric two-wheeler business.

The new solution is built on Ola’s proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell technology and will be manufactured at the company’s Gigafactory. Ola Shakti is designed to cater to a wide range of applications — from residential energy storage systems to large-scale grid deployments.

With this move, Ola Electric expects its annual energy storage consumption to scale up to 5 GWh over the next few years, positioning itself as a significant player in India’s emerging energy storage ecosystem.

The launch follows a series of technological advancements by the company, including in-house development of a rare-earth-free ferrite motor and government certification for the same, further underscoring Ola’s push towards vertical integration and innovation in clean energy solutions.
