In a significant development, the Odisha government has given the go-ahead to seven key projects, collectively amounting to an investment of Rs. 80,125 crore across various sectors. The decision came during a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
According to officials, these projects are poised to generate employment opportunities for approximately 24,552 individuals, spanning sectors such as steel, green energy, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. The proposed ventures are spread across districts including Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, and Bhadrak.
Granules Life Sciences Private Limited, a prominent pharmaceutical producer in India, has proposed to establish a pharmaceutical unit at Tata SEZ in Gopalpur, Ganjam district. With an investment of Rs. 1,100 crore, the company plans to manufacture 4 billion units of paracetamol, metformin, ibuprofen, and other pharmaceutical products, creating job opportunities for around 1,500 individuals.
Additionally, Granules CZRO Private Limited intends to set up a chemical plant for pharmaceutical products at Tata SEZ, with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore expected to employ approximately 1,000 people.
EG Solwin Hybrid Private Limited is set to establish a 0.30 MT green ammonia production unit at Tata SEZ, investing Rs. 6,330 crore and creating jobs for 1,050 people.
Furthermore, ACME Greentech Urja Private Limited plans to establish an integrated manufacturing unit in Khurda for solar power panels, investing Rs. 36,000 crore and providing employment to around 6,300 individuals.
Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Private Limited, India's largest solar panel manufacturer, is set to establish a 1.20 MMTPA green ammonia plant in Jagatsinghpur with an investment of Rs. 12,480 crore, creating jobs for 3,250 people.
Action Ispat aims to expand its steel production capacity from 0.37 MTPA to 7.5 MTPA at its Jharsuguda plant with an investment of Rs. 21,000 crores, offering job opportunities for another 10,000 people.
Finally, OFB Tech Private Limited will establish a manufacturing unit in Dhamra, Bhadrak, investing Rs 1,615 crore and creating jobs for 1,500 people.
"The state government has been consistently supportive of business leaders investing in the state. With these projects moving forward, Odisha's economy is expected to experience significant growth, solidifying its position as the top choice for investments and industrial development in eastern India," stated the Industries Department in a statement.
