Nxtra to Establish 200 MW Data Center in Hyderabad.

Nxtra by Airtel is set to establish its largest data center yet in Hyderabad, on 40 acres of newly acquired land. This 200 MW data center is part of the company’s broader goal to double its nationwide data center capacity to over 400 MW within the next two years. According to Nxtra CEO Ashish Arora, the Hyderabad facility is expected to be operational in two years and reach full capacity within five years. The company previously announced a $600 million investment to support this expansion.

Currently, Nxtra operates 12 large data centers, 120 Edge data centers, and provides 200 MW of power to over 500 clients. Nxtra also became the first data center provider in India to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) for operational excellence. The AI-powered SmartSense platform, developed by infrastructure AI leader Ecolibrium, was initially implemented in Nxtra’s Chennai data center and will now be rolled out across all core facilities.

The SmartSense AI deployment is designed to enhance efficiency and performance, extending asset life by 10% through real-time performance analytics and reducing non-IT power consumption by 10% through early detection of energy loss. The system also boosts equipment performance by 15% via AI-driven fault detection and diagnostics, while improving overall productivity by 25% with intelligent, proactive insights across data center operations.

With the SmartSense platform, Nxtra by Airtel is setting a new standard in India by leveraging AI to develop next-generation digital facilities focused on predictive maintenance, operational efficiency, automation, and optimized capital expenditure, according to Arora.
