Nidec, a prominent manufacturer of data centre equipment, today officially inaugurated its new ₹600 crore manufacturing plant in Hubballi, marking a significant boost to the region's industrial landscape and job market.
The state-of-the-art facility was formally opened by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Patil lauded Nidec's investment, emphasizing its potential to create substantial employment opportunities. "While the facility has initially created 800 direct jobs, the number is expected to rise to 3,000 jobs once the plant becomes fully operational," Minister Patil stated.
He further highlighted the state's support for Nidec's expansion, noting that 20 acres of land have already been allocated for a dedicated battery solutions unit within the same complex. This additional allocation underscores Nidec's long-term commitment to the region and its diverse manufacturing capabilities.
The establishment of this plant is seen as a key development for Hubballi, positioning it as an emerging hub for advanced manufacturing, particularly in the rapidly growing data centre sector. The investment by Nidec is expected to not only stimulate local economic growth but also attract further ancillary industries to the area.
