Navi Mumbai Metro line extended to connect Pendhar and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The Maharashtra government recently approved infrastructure projects worth ₹22,611 crore, marking a significant push to strengthen transport links and reduce congestion across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The approved projects include a tunnel and elevated corridor connecting Ghodbunder Road with Bhayandar, along with the expansion of the Navi Mumbai Metro. The metro extension will connect the network to the upcoming international airport via Line 2, improving last-mile and regional connectivity.
Officials said the decisions are aimed at easing persistent traffic bottlenecks and enhancing connectivity across key growth corridors in the MMR.
The approvals were granted by the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
