Minister asks State help to complete Kolkata Metro expansion work.
Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has sought the State Government's cooperation to complete the ongoing metro rail expansion projects in and around Kolkata.
According to Chowdhury, the Rs 4,874-crore East-West metro corridor and other major metro projects connecting various parts of the city with the central business district are stuck primarily owing to hurdles over land acquisition.
'We cannot progress on the projects due to lack of cooperation on the part of State government to solve the problem of land encroachment. And, it is not possible for the Indian Railways to do it alone,' Chowdhury said here recently. He was speaking at the inauguration of metro services recently.
The Minister also alleged that the State was indulging in 'a war of credit' for these projects.
