Metro trial run to begin.

Signalling the beginning of the Kochi metro' commercial operations in the 18-km section from Aluva to Maharaja’s College Ground by August end, the trial run of the Kochi metro on the 5-km stretch from Palarivattom to Maharaja's College Ground is slated to commence in two days.

According to officials, the Electrical Inspector General (EIG) has already conducted an inspection on the stretch and issued clearance certificate. The line in the extended section will soon be energised (power supply), and the trial run will be held on Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, DMRC officials said the construction of metro station buildings in the extended section was over, and that the system rooms had been handed over to KMRL subsequently. The focus will now be on certification works and inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety along with finishing work such as station themes.
