Mangaluru Startup Launches India’s First 25kW AEM Electrolyser for Green Hydrogen.
Hydrogen Innovation Pvt Ltd India, a Mangaluru-based startup, has unveiled India’s first 25-kilowatt anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyser stack, marking a significant milestone in the country’s green hydrogen technology development.
The AEM stack, which plays a crucial role in splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electrical energy, was developed at the company’s Mangaluru facility. The electrolyser will be used in the production of green hydrogen, a clean fuel alternative aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
Speaking to the media during the ‘HYDGEN Innovation Day 2025’ event in Mangaluru on Wednesday, M Krishna Kumar, Director of Hydrogen Innovation Pvt Ltd India, said the company manufactures electrolysers in Mangaluru, while some components are produced at its Pune facility and then assembled and tested locally.
Highlighting the innovation, Kumar noted that no other company in India has developed a 25-kilowatt AEM electrolyser stack. He added that while alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers are already in use, AEM technology is a more recent and promising addition to the sector.
