Maldives strengthens rural electrification
Male: Ministry of Environment Energy and Water has revealed that electricity would be further strengthened and widened in 19 atolls this year. Minister informs that this year’s outer electrification project will consist of 3 phases.
Under phase one electric service in Ha, Ihavandhoo , Ha Kelaa , Hdh Makunudhoo , Noonu Manadhoo , Noonu Kedhihulhudhoo , Meemu Mulhi , Faafu Nilandhoo , Laamu Fonadhoo , Thaa Thimarafushi and Thaa Veymandoo would be developed.
Under the second phase electric service in islands Ha Baarah , Hdh Neykurendhoo , Shaviani Kaditheem , Baa Kendhoo , Thaa Guraidhoo , Meemu Mulah , Ga Kolamaafushi and Ga. Maamendhoo.
Under the 3 phase electricity of 2 islands would be developed. They are Raa Ugoofar and Noonu Manadhoo.
Energy Ministry informs that electric power to these islands would be developed as per ministry’s standards and that at present work is underway in 12 islands. Ministry said the entire project would cost Rf.2, 477,802.64.
Ministry say the cost estimate for the first phase is Rf. 699,373.5 and the cost estimate for the second phase is Rf. 1,108, 142.28 and the third phase is Rf. 670, 286.86.
