Karnataka's Visvesvaraya Plant Set for Massive ₹8,000-₹10,000 Cr Boost.
The Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISL) in Bhadravati, a unit of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), is set for a substantial revival with an estimated investment of ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 crore. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, announced the significant development, emphasizing the government's commitment to revitalizing the historic plant.
Located approximately 260 km north-west of Bengaluru, VISL has been a key industrial entity in Karnataka. The revival initiative by the Union Steel Ministry aims to bolster its operations and capacity.
Minister Kumaraswamy confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the VISL revival is currently underway and is expected to be finalized within the next two months. Following the completion of the DPR, the project will move swiftly into the subsequent stages of approvals and groundwork, paving the way for the plant's rejuvenation.
