Karamtara Engineering to Raise ₹1,350 Crore for Capacity Expansion.

Karamtara Engineering, a leading player in the renewable energy and transmission sector, is set to raise ₹1,350 crore to support business expansion and scale up production capacities.

As part of its growth strategy, the company is relocating its solar tracker piles and piers manufacturing unit to a larger site in Gundale, Maharashtra. The new facility will not only enhance solar product manufacturing but will also accommodate production of wind angular towers, catering to the growing demand for renewable energy infrastructure.

Karamtara also plans to expand its structural steel profile production at Gundale, complementing its existing Unit Profiles facility in Palghar. Additionally, a new galvanizing unit will be set up in Gundale, strengthening the company’s galvanizing capabilities alongside its existing units in Tarapur and Palghar.

These developments align with Karamtara’s goal of meeting rising demand for solar mounting systems and other energy infrastructure components.

The estimated cost of these expansion projects is ₹193 crore, of which ₹152 crore has already been secured through financing. The company plans to fund the remaining amount through internal accruals, targeting project completion by FY26.

As part of its expansion drive, Karamtara is also shifting its solar torque tube manufacturing facility from Tarapur, Maharashtra, to Bhuj, Gujarat, with efforts underway to secure financing for this relocation.

Currently, the company operates eight manufacturing units—seven in India and one in Italy—with a total installed manufacturing capacity of 5.67 lakh tonnes per annum (TPA), including 3.74 lakh TPA dedicated to solar products. Its solar infrastructure capacity is equivalent to 13.2 GW, and it holds the largest galvanizing capacity in the solar energy sector at 2.58 lakh TPA.

Karamtara expects these expansions to enhance cost efficiency, optimize product designs, and improve customer service, reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s solar energy ecosystem while expanding its footprint in global markets.
