India Cements plans to refurbish at Salem in Tamil Nadu.

Business Line reported that India Cements plans to refurbish and expand capacity of its cement plant in Salem in Tamil Nadu at a cost of INR 80 crore.

According to reliable sources, the old cement plant is being replaced with new equipment and in the process the output will increase to about 17 lakh tonnes from the present six lakh tonnes. The company has sought environmental clearance and once these are in place the project will be take off.

It will optimise the existing kiln and add a new line. The total power requirement for the expanded capacity will be about 28 MW, including about 13 MW for the new line.
