Gravita India to Invest in Copper Recycling Capacity at Mundra.

Gravita India, a global recycling company, has announced plans to add 59,200 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of copper recycling capacity at its existing facility in Mundra, Gujarat.

The capacity will be added in phases at an estimated capital expenditure of around ₹64 crore. The project will be funded through internal accruals, the company said.

The proposed facility will process copper-bearing recyclable materials to recover copper and other valuable materials. The capacity addition will also serve as a backward integration initiative for Gravita’s proposed Mandvi plant in Gujarat, strengthening raw material sourcing and processing across its copper recycling operations.

The new capacity is expected to be commissioned in phases by March 31, 2029.

Gravita said the expansion is part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in the non-ferrous metal recycling segment and capitalise on growing demand for recycled copper in domestic and international markets.

The Mundra facility’s proximity to one of India’s major ports is also expected to provide logistical advantages for sourcing raw materials and serving both domestic and overseas customers.

The company said the expansion will increase its overall non-ferrous recycling capacity, strengthen its copper recycling capabilities and support its broader strategy of building a stronger position in the global circular economy.
