Fujifilm India to Set Up Semiconductor Materials Facility in Dholera Under Gujarat MoU.

Fujifilm India to Set Up Semiconductor Materials Facility in Dholera Under Gujarat MoU.

Fujifilm India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) to explore the establishment of a semiconductor materials production base in Dholera, as the Japanese company looks to expand its presence in India's growing semiconductor ecosystem.

The agreement was signed with GSEM under the Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat, and was announced at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara on Tuesday.

Under the MoU, Fujifilm India will evaluate opportunities to set up a semiconductor materials manufacturing facility in Dholera and collaborate with the Gujarat government, industry bodies and private sector companies to strengthen India's domestic semiconductor supply chain.

The proposed facility aligns with India's efforts to develop a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem and position the country as a global chip manufacturing hub. The demand for semiconductors and related materials is expected to increase significantly across sectors such as electronics, automobiles, telecommunications and artificial intelligence.

The partnership marks another step in Fujifilm India's efforts to participate in India's semiconductor growth story by supporting the development of critical materials and manufacturing capabilities.
