DP World Signs Agreement with Deendayal Port, Nevomo for Magrail Project.

DP World has signed an agreement with Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and Nevomo to deploy a first-of-its-kind magnetic propulsion system for self-propelled rail movement of bulk cargo and containers at Deendayal Port, Gujarat, according to an official release recently.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai. The project will leverage Nevomo’s proprietary MagRail Booster technology to demonstrate its application in a live Indian port environment.

Earlier in July 2025, a similar MoU was signed between the three entities. Under the current agreement, DPA, DP World, and Nevomo will collaborate to design and install a 750-metre MagRail Booster pilot track within the port. The system will showcase fully automated, sustainable cargo movement using existing rail infrastructure, reducing dependence on conventional locomotives while enhancing port throughput, efficiency, and safety.

In parallel, a strategic feasibility study will evaluate the potential for large-scale deployment of MagRail technology across Indian ports, aiming to modernize port logistics with advanced rail propulsion solutions.
