Devpt Projects Mooted.

The Aluva town is all set for a major facelift, with the authorities floating several projects under the town development scheme 'Urban 2020'.

As construction of the Metro Rail is bound to choke up the already congested town, the project could be a game changer for the satellite city of Kochi.

'We have submitted several proposals to the government as part of the Urban-2020 project, to utilise the fund earmarked for the development of the municipality. The road from Perumbavoor to Aluva town, where a number of private buses ply, is congested at several points. We have sought funds for the construction of three bypasses, to ease traffic from the three hubs of Perumbavoor, Angamaly and Paravoor,' said Aluva municipality Chairman M T Jacob.

'We have also applied for the construction of an overbridge from the Government Hospital to Kunnumpuram and a flyover from Pump junction to the Civil Station. The flyover alone would cost almost Rs. 40 crore,' he added.
