Chinese, Russian, and UAE firms are competing for a ₹17,000-crore deal to expand NALCO's smelter..

Chinese firms, GAMI and CHALCO, are in the race to partner with India's National Aluminium Company (NALCO) on a massive ₹17,000-crore smelter project. This interest comes amid a recent warming of relations between India and China.

The two Chinese companies are competing against Dubai Aluminium Company (DUBAL) and Russian giant RUSAL. These companies are vying to provide the technology for the smelter.

The search for a new partner follows the collapse of talks with previous contender Rio Tinto.
