Chennai Facility to Manufacture Visteon's High-Res Cameras and Backlight Units
Visteon, a global leader in automotive cockpit electronics and connected car solutions, has commenced in-house manufacturing of its next-generation high-resolution Analog and Digital Camera System and Display Backlight Unit (BLU) at its state-of-the-art facility in Chennai, India. This significant expansion involves an initial investment of $10 million, aimed at supporting advanced in-house production and creating new employment opportunities.
The newly established production lines will focus on building analogue and digital cameras with resolutions ranging from 1.3 MP to 8 MP HD. These cameras are designed to deliver significantly sharper visuals compared to traditional automotive cameras. Crucially, they are also optimized for seamless integration with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which will empower drivers with enhanced capabilities for parking, maneuvering, and navigating with greater safety and precision, the company stated.
Sachin Lawande, President and CEO of Visteon, underscored India's pivotal role in the company's global strategy. "India plays a critical role in our vertical integration strategy," Lawande remarked. "Localising production of camera systems and backlight units strengthens our ability to scale, innovate, and deliver next-generation cockpit technologies more efficiently to global markets."
This move reinforces Chennai's growing importance as a hub for advanced automotive manufacturing and technology, further solidifying India's position in the global automotive supply chain.
