Centre Unveils ₹583 Crore Package to Boost Sikkim’s Organic Farming and Infrastructure

The Union Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) recently announced significant financial support for Sikkim, positioning the state as a benchmark for sustainable development, organic agriculture and environmentally responsible growth.

Union MDoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said Sikkim has emerged as a leading example of ecological conservation, sustainable tourism and organic farming, aligning closely with the Centre's Act East policy objectives.

During his recent visit to Gangtok for Sikkim's 51st Statehood Day celebrations, Scindia launched the 'Mission Sikkim Organics' programme, which carries an estimated outlay of ₹360 crore. The initiative aims to transform Sikkim into a globally competitive premium organic economy by strengthening production, value addition and market linkages.
