Bharat Forge Limited Announces Marine Gas Turbine Facility in Visakhapatnam.

Bharat Forge Limited will establish India’s first private-sector Marine Gas Turbine (MGT) repair, overhaul and indigenous development complex in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s naval propulsion capabilities.

The company, through its aerospace business, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for setting up the facility.

The complex will be co-located with the Naval Dockyard, INS Eksila and the Eastern Naval Command headquarters, bringing critical marine propulsion sustainment capabilities into India’s private sector for the first time.

In the first phase, the facility will house a full-fledged marine gas turbine repair and overhaul complex, including hot section restoration of blades, vanes and combustion liners, component manufacturing units, and a non-destructive evaluation (NDE) laboratory. The project will also provide a 72-hour turnaround capability for the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.
