The announcement follows a series of railway infrastructure demands raised by Karnataka Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil, who had urged the Union government to develop quadruple railway corridors connecting Bengaluru with Tumakuru, Mysuru, Hindupura via Gauribidanuru, and Kolar.

Responding to the proposals, Somanna said the survey for the Bengaluru–Tumakuru quadruple railway line has been completed and the tendering process will commence soon. The project is expected to be completed within two years, he added.

The Railway Ministry has also decided to conduct a survey for the proposed Bengaluru–Mysuru quadruple railway line, which is aimed at improving rail capacity and connectivity along one of the state’s key corridors.
