"AP Minister Narayana Announces DPR Approval for Visakhapatnam Metro, Work to Start After Centre's Approval"

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Visakhapatnam Metro is complete and has been submitted to the Centre for approval, announced P Narayana, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Andhra Pradesh.

Responding to queries in the State Assembly on Wednesday, Narayana stated that construction work on the much-anticipated metro project would commence once the Centre gives its approval. He highlighted that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had taken a keen interest in the initiative, even writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the approval process. Narayana also criticized the previous YSR Congress Party-led government for neglecting the development of the city and putting the project on hold.

The DPR outlines a 76.9-kilometer metro network, divided into four corridors, which will be constructed in two phases.

In another update, Nara Lokesh, Minister of IT, Electronics, and Education, assured that the state government is on track to complete the construction of the Tribal University within the next two years.
