Amazon to Expand Micro-Fulfilment Centres to 300 by Year-End.
Amazon India has announced plans to triple its number of micro-fulfilment centres, aiming to reach 300 by the end of 2025. The expansion is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its quick commerce service, Amazon Now, and is backed by a ₹2,000 crore investment in India this year.
“We are at 100 centres right now. We plan to close the year with 300 centres by the end of this year. This will be our first time with quick commerce capabilities this season. So, we will learn from this one at this point,” said Karan Chugh, Director - Operations, Amazon India.
The move will allow Amazon to extend its rapid delivery service to more cities, competing more aggressively in the growing quick commerce space.
In addition to the planned micro-fulfilment centres, Amazon India currently operates 17 fulfilment centres, 75 delivery stations, and six sortation centres across the country.
