"Amaravati Project Advances with Gazette Notification of Administrative City"

After a hiatus of five years, the Amaravati greenfield capital project in Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step forward with the issuance of a Gazette notification by the state government.

This notification paves the way for the commencement of construction activities for the new administrative city, Amaravati City, marking the initial phase of development since the new TDP government assumed office last month.

Recently, the state government appointed retired IAS officer Lakshimi Parthsarathy as the Managing Director of the Capital City Development and Management Corporation. This special-purpose vehicle, established under the Companies Act, 2013, is tasked with overseeing the development, implementation, and operation of the new capital city.

"Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is eager to expedite the project commencement. These steps signify the beginning of this journey. The Department of Municipal Administration is already engaged in clearing the scrub forest in the capital city region," noted a senior official.

Additionally, a forthcoming white paper will outline the current status of Amaravati and address the implications of the project's hiatus under the previous administration, similar to the recently released white paper on the Polavaram project.
