The contract involves the design and construction of a desalinated water conveyance tunnel connecting the proposed water pumping station at Manori to Charkop, with an extension up to Mahavir Nagar in Kandivali. The project cost includes Goods and Services Tax (GST) as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) components.

Afcons Infrastructure Managing Director S. Paramasivan said the company will execute the project along with the Kasheli–Mulund water conveyance tunnel project for BMC.

The company is currently undertaking multiple water and hydro infrastructure projects across India, including the 7.13 km Kasheli–Mulund underground water conveyance tunnel in Mumbai, an 8.7 km treated water tunnel project for the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) in Navi Mumbai, a rural water supply scheme in Uttar Pradesh and a water supply project in Rajasthan, according to the filing.

Afcons has also executed water supply projects internationally in countries including Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Benin and Rwanda, strengthening its presence in the global water infrastructure sector.
