Adani Airports to Build Airport Cities Across Six Airports with ₹20,000-Crore Investment.

Adani Airports recently announced plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore to develop integrated airport cities across six airports, aiming to transform airport zones into commercial and urban growth hubs with hotels, offices, retail spaces, entertainment facilities and convention centres.

The projects will be developed across airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati, with around 22 million sq ft of mixed-use infrastructure planned under the initiative. The developments will be undertaken by Adani Airport City Ltd (AACL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL).

The airport city strategy will cover a land bank of more than 655 acres across the group's airport network, including nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Around 70% of the planned investment is expected to be focused on the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, highlighting the importance of the two airports in Adani's aviation and real estate expansion plans.

The company said the initiative is aimed at creating economic ecosystems around airports by integrating commercial, hospitality and entertainment infrastructure.

“Across the world, successful airport districts have evolved into centres of commerce, tourism and urban growth. As India's aviation market expands, airports have an opportunity to create value beyond aviation,” Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, said in an official release.

The planned developments mark a shift in airport infrastructure strategy, with operators increasingly looking to leverage surrounding land parcels to create self-sustaining business and lifestyle destinations.
