Vulkan sets up new manufacturing facility in Pune.

Vulkan Technologies, wholly-owned subsidiary of Germany-based Hackforth Holding GmbH & Co.KG has set up a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Pirangut near Pune.

The new facility houses the lokring division with increased production capacity, an ultramodern machine shop for machining couplings and castings, a rubber vulcanization unit as well as the company’s corporate office.

Sebastian Hackforth Managing Partner, Hackforth Holding said, 'Pune was a natural choice for expansion since we already had a strong, operational manufacturing base here. Availability of resources, good industrial base around and strong presence of German companies in and around Pune were also some reasons for our capacity expansion. We have invested about Rs. 45 crore in this new plant.'

The installed manufacturing capacity of the Lokring unit is 110 lakh pieces per month, the machine shop can process 105 metric tons, whereas the rubber unit can process 30 metric tons per month. The company is also considering setting up a new phosphating plant at the rubber unit.

Speaking on the company's future plans of the company Rajesh Mishra, Managing Director, Vulkan said, 'In the next two years we intend to double the capacity of our steel and aluminum foundry, which is in line with the increasing demand for critical castings. The capacity of Lokring division will also be increased in a phased manner to cater to local as well overseas customers.'
