Sri Lanka's first metro rail project kicked off
Airport Express Air and Rail Co has said it has kicked off Sri Lanka's first metro rail project that will link the country's only international airport and capital Colombo.
The 30-km project is estimated to cost $600 million. Each train will carry 400 passengers.
Airport Express Air and Rail Co said the metro will cut the present travel time between the airport and Colombo from around two hours to 25 minutes.
