Pak completes 14 uplift scheme

Jalalabad: 14 different projects have been completed on Saturday with the support of the German Agro-action organization in the eastern Laghman and Nangarhar provinces, an official said.

Nine of the projects including school buildings construction, canal clearance, levees construction and power supply were completed in Nazian district of the Nangarhar province.

Syed Ali Akbar, police chief of Nazian district told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects were completed in three months and would benefit 1120 families.

Eng. Zabihullah, an official of German Agro-action organization in Nangarhar said the projects were completed at a cost of $117000.

Similarly three other schools were constructed in Khewa, Lalpuri and Goshta districts at a cost of $150000 by the funds of Rural and Rehabilitation Ministry.

Muhamad Iqbal Azizi, head of education department told this news agency the schools were constructed in one acre and 500 tents were provided by Education ministry while UNICEF granted 2800 rugs for these schools.

Meanwhile, two other small projects of water and power supply were completed in the Alengar district of Laghman province.

National Solidarity Programme chief Eng. Hamayun Akseer said the projects were completed at a cost of 2 million and 600000 afghani while ten percent of cost was contributed by the local people.

The power supply projects will benefit at least 240 families of the region, he added
