Mauritius to Establish Special Economic Zone for Indian Companies.

Mauritius will establish a special economic zone (SEZ) exclusively for Indian companies, Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam announced recently. The move is aimed at strengthening economic ties and providing a dedicated platform for Indian businesses to expand their global footprint.

Ramgoolam, who is on a week-long visit to India, made the announcement at a business conclave organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

"FICCI’s request for the establishment of a special economic zone in Mauritius dedicated entirely to Indian companies is a visionary idea which has the blessings of my government," Ramgoolam said. He added that the new SEZ would be a "world-class zone with all the necessary facilities for Indian entrepreneurs to set up, innovate, and prosper further."

The announcement is expected to boost investment and collaboration between the two nations, leveraging Mauritius's strategic location and favorable business environment to attract Indian enterprises. The initiative signals a new chapter in the long-standing economic partnership between India and Mauritius.
