Mahadhan Agritech, Haifa Group to Set Up Water-Soluble Fertilizer Plant in India.
Mahadhan Agritech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation, is planning to establish a water-soluble fertilizer manufacturing plant in partnership with Israel-based Haifa Group, a global leader in specialty plant nutrition.
The proposed facility is likely to be located in a port-based state, with Gujarat, Maharashtra, or Karnataka under consideration, according to Naresh Deshmukh, Chief Operating Officer of Mahadhan Agritech.
“The proposal is between the drawing board and reality,” Deshmukh said in an online interaction with BusinessLine. “We’ve completed all groundwork—market assessments, demand-supply analysis, and global potential. Everything is in place.”
Currently, India lacks a domestic manufacturing unit for water-soluble fertilizers, which are entirely imported from countries like Israel, China, and those in Europe. Mahadhan, which already produces one million tonnes of fertilizers annually, sees this venture as a strategic move to tap into a growing market and reduce dependency on imports.
