ACME Solar Unit Secures ₹47.4 Crore Regulatory Compensation from Rajasthan Commission.

ACME Solar Holdings’ subsidiary ACME Aklera Power Technology has been granted approximately ₹47.4 crore in change-in-law compensation by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC), the company announced recently. The ruling is expected to boost revenue from the 250 MW solar project contracted with SECI by around 3.5 per cent annually over 15 years.

The compensation addresses costs arising from regulatory changes, including the imposition of basic customs duty on solar cells and modules, an increase in goods and services tax from 5 per cent to 12 per cent, and related carrying costs. The total amount will be disbursed through an annuity mechanism at a 9 per cent discount rate over 15 years, safeguarding the project’s economics against unforeseen regulatory expenses.

The RERC decision provides regulatory certainty for renewable energy developers facing unexpected policy shifts during project lifecycles. It also establishes a framework for compensating developers when regulatory changes impact project costs, potentially influencing similar cases across India’s renewable energy sector.
