Aalborg CSP to supply steam generators for 700MW CSP park in Dubai.

The plant, together with a 250-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) component, will form the fourth phase of the 5-GW Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park that combines CSP and PV technologies. Once completed, the CSP park is planned to be the largest one of its kind globally.

In what it says is its largest order in terms of megawatts, Aalborg will deliver 42 heat exchangers and pressure vessels. The steam generation systems, of 600 MW in total, will use Aalborg’s leakage-free header-and-coil technology. Turbines and auxiliary equipment will be delivered by German industrial giant Siemens AG (ETR:SIE).

ACWA Power is the lead developer of the Phase 4 project. Its partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and China’s Silk Road Fund in September 2017 won the tender to build the 700-MW CSP park. Shanghai Electric (SHA:601727) has been selected as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

By 2020, the commissioned capacity at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum project will exceed 1 GW.
