2 Super Specialty Hospitals Coming Up in State.

Two super specialty hospitals will be coming up at Vijayawada and Anantapur and the construction activity at Vijayawada hospital is likely to commence by end of December or January.

The land for the Super Specialty Hospital at Vijayawada was already identified and soil testing was completed recently for laying foundation for the building. The new hospital will be coming up at Siddhartha Medical College premises Buildings for hospitals at both Vijayawada and Anantapur will be five storied height and will have eight specialities - Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Urology and Nephrology. The hospital at Vijayawada will be a tertiary care hospital on the lines of AIIMS and will be under the control of Government General Hospital superintendent in Vijayawada.

According to sources, Central government will be doing most of the funding for the project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 150 crore per hospital. The state government on its part will be providing Rs. 30 crore for each hospital while central government share will be Rs. 120 crore. The Central government corporation HSC has been entrusted with the task of executing the project.

Both the hospitals have been sanctioned to the state under the Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and release of funds to start the project is expected in the coming few weeks. Under the Phase I of PMSSY, AIIMS were sanctioned to different states in the country and under phase-II funding for modernisation of NIMS and SVIMS was sanctioned. Two super speciality hospitals were sanctioned in third phase. The state was not having enough super speciality hospitals in public sector.
