The work on three apex central educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh is all set to start.
Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani will lay foundation stone for Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Information Technology Chittoor (IIIT) on February 28.
It may be recalled that foundation stone for Indian Institute of Management (IIM) was laid over a month ago in Viskhapatnam.
'These Institutes will tie-up with various national and international institutes and universities abroad so that students have an opportunity to interact with the faculty and broaden their horizons,' the State Government said in a release issued recently.
The IISER, to come up in Tirupati will be the sixth one in the country and is meant for basic science education and research. Students will be exposed to latest developments in various fields of science and will be provided hands-on training. It will be mentored by IISER, Pune, which was the first to be established in 2006. The Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati will be mentored by IIT Madras.
The IIIT is being set up in Sri City, Satyavedu Mandal, Chittoor district. The Institute has already commenced research programs in AI & Robotics and Smart Cities. The Smart Cities programme will be extended to the 'Smart Village' programme of Government of Andhra Pradesh, according to a release.
