WATCO Floats Tenders for 24x7 Water and Sewerage Services in Bhubaneswar.

The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) has initiated a fresh bidding process for the implementation of a 24x7 water supply system and an underground sewerage network in Town Planning (TP) scheme areas 1, 2 and 3, covering the rapidly developing stretch from Tomando to Chandaka on the city’s outskirts.

The infrastructure project, estimated at around ₹18.10 crore, will include a dedicated round-the-clock water supply network and a comprehensive sewerage system for the three TP scheme areas being developed by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

Under the water supply component, WATCO plans to lay a 171-km distribution network supported by transmission pipelines, elevated service reservoirs, household metering and an automation system to ensure uninterrupted supply and efficient monitoring. The system is expected to provide round-the-clock potable water to residents in the emerging urban pockets through over 5,100 household service connections.

The sewerage component will include the construction of an underground drainage network, pumping stations and a 20 million litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant. It will also provide nearly 5,000 sewer house connections, aimed at creating an integrated urban infrastructure system in the planned development zones.

Officials said the initiative aligns with the Bhubaneswar Development Authority’s efforts to develop structured urban growth corridors with essential civic amenities such as roads, drainage and water supply.

BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana said the TP schemes in the Tomando–Chandaka belt are emerging as key growth centres for the city’s future expansion.
