Waaree Energies to Set Up 10 GW Integrated Solar Ingot & Wafer Unit in Nagpur with ₹6,200 Crore Investment.

Waaree Energies Ltd recently announced the groundbreaking of what it described as India’s largest integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility at Butibori in Nagpur.

The upcoming plant will have a capacity of 10 GW each for solar ingots and wafers, forming a key part of India’s solar photovoltaic value chain. Spread across 300 acres, the project will involve an investment of about ₹6,200 crore. Once operational, the facility is expected to significantly boost domestic manufacturing of these critical upstream components and reduce India’s reliance on imported materials.

The announcement was made during a ceremonial ground-breaking event attended by senior government leaders and industry stakeholders, including Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

According to the company, the integrated facility will focus on producing high-purity solar ingots and wafers, which serve as the foundational materials used in solar photovoltaic manufacturing. By building domestic capacity in these upstream segments, the project aims to strengthen supply chain stability and support India’s broader energy security goals.
