Vijayawada's Durga Flyover to be Constructed in 5 Phases.

Kanaka Durga Flyover in Vijayawada will be constructed in five phases and to this effect action plan has been prepared, district collector Babu A said.

Addressing a meeting with people's representatives at collector’s camp office here Wednesday, he sought active cooperation of people’s representatives in completing the project before Krishna Pushkarams commences next year.

He directed the officials concerned to have the flyover works completed in a time-bound manner without any lapses. He emphasised the need for greater coordination among police, R&B, municipal, power, irrigation and other departments for the completion of the flyover project at the earliest.

The collector said three teams of survey department staff will complete the marking of every aspect of the flyover in three days' time and submit a report. He said notification for the flyover project has been published on August 11.

Speaking on the occasion, MLC Buddha Venkanna called upon the people to cooperate in completing the project at the earliest. He said it will help in decongesting vehicular traffic in One Town area of the city. He assured all cooperation in the acquisition of required land for the project.

Police officials were requested to divert the highway traffic from Hyderabad going towards Visakhapatnam or Chennai direction towards Ibrahimpatnam, G Kondur, Mylavaram and Hanuman Junction to Visakhapatnam-Chennai road and to come out with an action plan. Vidyadharapuram was suggested as a temporary stop for in-bound RTC bus traffic from Hyderabad direction and from there minibus services into the city should be provided.

The land required for the flyover project is 28,000 sq mt plus and the same will be acquired as per the new Land Acquisition Act. Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian, subcollector S Nagalakshmi and others were present.
