VA Tech Wabag Bags Significant Desalination Plant Order in Kuwait.

Water technology company VA Tech Wabag recently announced that it has secured a mega Design-Build-Operate (DBO) contract for the Doha SWRO Desalination Plant with Recarbonation System – Stage II in Kuwait, further strengthening its presence in the Middle East water infrastructure market.

According to the company, mega orders refer to international projects valued at more than $150 million.

The project involves the design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 60 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD), or approximately 272 million litres per day (MLD), seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant. The facility will be equipped with a state-of-the-art recarbonation system aimed at enhancing water quality and operational efficiency.

In a regulatory filing, VA Tech Wabag said the project is expected to be completed within 36 months.

The contract also includes a five-year operations and maintenance (O&M) component, under which the company will oversee the plant's performance and upkeep after commissioning.

The order adds to VA Tech Wabag's growing international portfolio and reinforces its position as a key player in the global desalination and water treatment sector.
