Solar Power Connectivity Plant Opened.
State Labour minister K Atchan Naidu inaugurated the rooftop solar power connectivity plant at the municipal office recent evening. On the occasion, the minister said that the government was giving top priority for widespread use of solar power in the district.
The plant has 40-kv power generating capacity. About 160 modules with 72 cells were set up with 250 watt each. The whole plant was set up with an expenditure of Rs. 40 lakh. 'It is a matter of pride that this is the first solar power grid in the state,' said Atchan Naidu. The minister said that in two months the state government took measures for 24-hour power supply where earlier power cuts were normal. With the Central government’s encouragement the state would set up solar power hub at Anantapur and to conserve energy, LED bulbs were distributed in the district as well, Atchan added.
