Rs. 518 cr alloted for Airport metro stations.

The Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Mumbai Metro-III project received another boost this week as the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) on Friday sanctioned Rs. 518 crore for the construction of two stations of the Metro-III corridor. The Metro-III corridor will bring rail connectivity for the first time to the domestic and international airport. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) had proposed construction of three underground stations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport’s domestic terminal (T1), international terminal (T2), and at Sahar Road.

The MMRC had signed an MoU with Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), which manages the Mumbai airport, on September 16, 2015 where it was agreed to give Rs. 777 Crore, subject to the approval of the AERA. While the commuters will bear the development fee, MIAL will finance the construction of the Sahar Road station from their non-passenger revenue, sources said. 'It's a very positive step by AERA,' said Ms Ashwini Bhide, MD, MMRC.
