PowerGrid begins restoring transmission lines in Chennai.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. has restored three transmission lines in coordination with the Tamil Nadu Government, Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, said recently.

On his official account on Twitter, Goyal tweeted that an Emergency Restoration System of PowerGrid has also reached Chennai.

“We have sent more than 75 people to assist in Chennai and have set up a local control room,” the Minister said.

Further the Minister also said that while inundated lines are being restored systematically to prevent electrocution, the Government is also sending 50,000 solar lamps to Chennai.

“Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy Ministries and associated PSUs remain committed to providing all possible support,” Goyal tweeted.
