Plan to seek Rs.35 crore for relaying roads.

The Tiruchi Corporation has decided to seek financial assistance for relaying roads in the city at an estimate of Rs.35.10 crore.

In a resolution presented before the Corporation Council held here on Wednesday, it said that several roads were badly damaged in different parts of the city due to recent rain. They were badly in need of repair and rehabilitation.

Several residents, forums, councillors and others had sought the intervention of the Corporation for relaying the roads.

It was estimated that it would require Rs.35.10 crore for relaying of roads and construction of storm water drains in the city. Considering the requirement of huge sum, it had been decided to seek financial assistance or subsidy for implementing the project.

Hence, it had prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR), seeking financial assistance through the Tamil Nadu Urban Finance Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDCO). It had been sent to TUFIDCO.

The plan would enable the Corporation to develop roads at a cost of Rs.33.40 crore, and construct storm water drains at an estimate of Rs.70 lakh.

A sum of Rs.1 crore would be earmarked for construction of retaining walls.
