NTPC Simhadri to Host Meine Electric’s Pilot Iron-Air Battery Storage System.

NTPC Simhadri to Host Meine Electric’s Pilot Iron-Air Battery Storage System.

Chennai-based deeptech start-up Meine Electric has planned a pilot project at NTPC Simhadri Thermal Power Station to evaluate its indigenous Iron-Air Battery technology for long-duration energy storage (LDES) applications.

The project, being undertaken in collaboration with the Atal Incubation Centre – Anna University (AIC-AU), will assess the technology under utility-scale operating conditions.

The pilot will evaluate the technical performance, operational reliability and operating characteristics of the indigenous Iron-Air Battery system in real-world conditions.

The study is expected to generate operational data and insights into the technology’s suitability for long-duration energy storage applications, supporting its potential deployment in utility-scale energy storage systems.
